Here you are close enough to enjoy all the attractions of Acapulco, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle to relax in a splendidly serene atmosphere. The Acapulco Princess. One of the world's most beautiful resorts in one of Nature's most perfect settings.
Golf Digest included the Acapulco Princess in "The 25 Greatest Golf Resorts." According to Robert Trent Jones Sr., "The Pierre Marques is one of the top 100 courses in the world." Add to these accolades perfect weather, majestic beaches and the finest resort hotels and you've got the best in golf vacations anywhere.
The two courses are side by side, and a walk across the street from their respective hotels. The Acapulco Princess Course is the shorter, playing at championship length of 6,355 yards. Its immaculate and narrow fairways are coconut palm-lined and feature numerous water hazards to test your nerve. The 18th, a dogleg par 4, bends left around a large lake, producing a second shot that appears suspended in space over the pyramid of the Acapulco Princess before landing on the green. Every tee shot on the Acapulco Princess Course should be carefully studied before being launched. Not only are there the tall palms on each side of the fairway, but also a few strategically placed trees guard the approaches on the greens. The Pierre Marques, is considered by most to be the more difficult of the two. At both courses, full driving ranges and school-type practice areas, as well as rental clubs and shoes are available.
The
Acapulco Princess Course
Designed by Ted Robinson, this pleasant layout is punctuated by narrow fairways, lined by coconut palms and water hazards on 12 of the 18 holes. Included in Golf Digest's Top 25 Golf Resorts, the Princess Course's featured hole is the 18th, a dog-leg par 4 around a large lake, leaving a second shot that appears suspended in space over the unique pyramid structure of the hotel. The course plays to just under 6400 yards from the Championship tees, the challenge is real enough as half of the holes have water hazards on one side, and out of bounds on the other! 'Sneaky tough' is an apt description to the challenge offered by this gem of a course.
The Fairmont Pierre Marques Golf Course
With an investment of over 3 million dollars, The Fairmont Pierre
Marques has finalized the last phase of an extensive renovation program,
supervised by world-renowned golf designer Robert Trent Jones Jr.
Improvements to the course included an extensive expansion of existing lakes and waterways.
This new design reflects the Jones' legacy and offers players a renewed
challenge steps away from the Pacific Ocean.
Originally designed by Percy Clifford, the course was remodeled by Robert Trent
Jones Sr. for the 1982 World Cup Championship. With the redesign of 65 sand
bunkers, and additional 300 yards in length, Jones placed a premium on accuracy
from the tee, and precise shots into the well guarded greens. As testament to
the challenge created, the winning individual score for the tournament was just
3 under par.
