The resort's 1,000 acres center Jasper National Park Alberta, Canada, one of North America,, largest wilderness areas- 4,200 square miles of rushing rivers, sparkling lakes, virgin forest, and snow capped peaks. What, began at the turn of the century as an eight-bungalow retreat still nestles at the edge of Lac Beauvert. Jasper Park Lodge initially claimed fame not only for its incomparable setting but for in building, on the largest single story log structure in the world.

Today's resort boasts 442 accommodations, all log cabins or cedar chalet, decorated in casually elegant contemporary style. Many of the rooms and all the suites have conversation areas, fireplaces, and minibars. Some have private Jacuzzi tubs. All have color TV, radio, coffee makers, hair dryers, bathrobes, and slippers.

Lakefront cabins range in size from four bedrooms with four baths to the Milligan Manor eight bedrooms and nine baths plus a 900-square foot living and dining room. The cabins often serve as executive retreats, complementing 13 function rooms and full convention support for up to 1, 000. A large and talented culinary staff specializes in menus to suit any occasion, large or small.

Four restaurants range in mood from the classic Edith Cavell dining room to the more casual Moose's Nook. Three lounges entertain with light fare and cocktails. Dancing takes place seasonally at Tent City Nightclub, but daytime activity dominates most guests' agendas.

In 1925, the addition of a Stanley Thompson designed golf course brought international acclaim to the lodge. Rebuilt in the 1940,, the 6,323-yard layout delights golfers with 18 holes lined up with nearby mountain peaks and such hazards as elk, deer flocks of geese, and ball-stealing ravens. Two recent awards rate it as one of the world's top resort courses-and the only Gold Medal Resort winner in Canada.

The list of attractions at the four-season resort goes on and on: unlimited snow sports, tennis, workouts at the health club, dips in the year-round outdoor pool, mountain biking, boating, fishing wilderness sightseeing.
