Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the 18-hole championship course presents dramatic changes in elevation, large undulating greens and 120 well-placed bunkers. The spectacular signature hole is the famous third, where surging inlet water races to meet the rocky shoreline, affording one of the most dramatic and breathtaking views of any course today.
Mauna Kea includes world-class practice facilities to elevate your game while enjoying epic vistas of the Kohala Coast’s rolling waves, panoramic views of the sea and land, snow-capped Mauna Kea Volcano, rugged lava beds and the sparkling blue Pacific.

Mauna Lani North Course

Mauna Lani’s North Course has fast become one of the most popular tournament venues on the Island. Rated as one of the best golf experiences on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Built on a lava bed, the North is characterized by rolling terrain punctuated by Kiawe forests. A 230-acre protected archaeological district lies on the northern boundary of the golf course. Herds of feral goats frequent the entire golf course, moving from hole to hole throughout the day.
There are as many as five different tee positions on most of the holes to give golfers a wide range of options in meeting the challenging conditions. With the Groves of twisted kiawe trees along the fairway edges and a more pronounced topography make the holes seem quite a contrast from the south 18. Water hazards come into play, and several holes are contiguous with the ocean.

Hapuna Golf Course

Hapuna Golf Course offers spectacular views of the Kohala Coast and the Pacific Ocean while majestic Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Kohala Mountains form the backdrop. With its seemingly endless views and dramatic elevation changes beginning at sea level and rising to 700 feet, Hapuna Golf Course nestles into the rugged desert terrain above the west shore of Hawaii’s Big Island.
This Arnold Palmer / Ed Seay designed course is a championship links-style design that was built in 1992 and stretches to just under 6900 yards. Its challenging play and environmental sensitivity make it one of Hawaii’s most unique golf courses. The Pacific Ocean serves as the picture perfect backdrop and can be seen from every hole. Teeing off at just under 700 feet of elevation, the signature par-4 12th hole provides one of the most spectacular panoramic views on the Big Island, where the island of Maui is visible in the distance. Hapuna Golf Course is also favored among locals and therefore has gained a reputation as one of Big Island’s hidden gems.

Enjoy seeing the grand splash on hole #13 where you will see the impressive blow hole known as “puka” in Hawaiian.
Keep a lookout for Humpback Whales during November through March. This 18 hole championship course offers wide, lush fairways, Bermuda Grass greens and numerous sand bunkers. The only natural obstacles are the turquoise blue water and lava rocks.
