Waikola Kings Course
Waikoloa Kings Golf Course is truly a player’s course. It has length and lingering trade winds that can pick up in the late afternoon. This alone would be enough to challenge a good player, yet the course also is known for its unique lava landscape which can definitely be a considerable distraction.
Designed by the team of Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish the 7074 yard Kings Course meanders over and around the ancient black lava flow, and its wide, undulating fairways are framed by palm trees and vibrant flowers of Hawaii. The beautiful Kings Course plays inland towards the ancient mountain of Mauna Kea, ever present in the distance.
From the 5th hole green, perched up a few feet above the fairway golfers get a magnificent view of the surrounding lava fields, which stretch as far as the eye can see. This is camera time no matter what your score. Majestic fairways interspersed throughout ancient lava fields – it has even been compared to playing golf on the moon!
